If you are looking for a basic business laptop that will allow you to get your work done while you're out of the office, the Acer TravelMate may have exactly what you need. This computing device does not offer all of the bells and whistles you will find in many similar devices. It doesn't offer an extravagant design and many unique tools. Instead, this laptop provides a wide selection of connectivity options, an excellent processor and an adequate display screen.

This business laptop is very ordinary and plain in its design. It does not offer any unique design characteristics or features to make it stand out among the others. However, it is a well-built and durable machine. It features a 14-inch display screen with a 1366 x 768 resolution. The images on the screen are crisp, sharp and bright. The TravelMate is also much bulkier and heavier than many similar computers, with a relatively heavy weight of 5.29 pounds.

The Acer TravelMate features a few additional tools, including a 10-key number pad and a built-in webcam. The touchpad on this business laptop is also very responsive and we did not notice much lag time.

One of the biggest drawbacks to this laptop computer is the four-hour battery life. This is one of the shortest batteries and offers little power for using your computing while you're waiting in airports or sitting through long business meetings. You will want to ensure that your computer's charger is always with you when using this as your business companion.

Windows 7 Professional is the operating system available on the Acer TravelMate. This user-friendly operating system makes it easy to navigate around the laptop. This business laptop also features the Intel Core i5 processor. This processor offers speeds up to 2.4GHz, which provides an adequate amount of both speed and power to help get all of your tasks accomplished.

There is 4GB of RAM included on this computing device, but you can upgrade to a maximum of 8GB. There is also 750GB of hard drive space available on this business computer. This large amount of storage space is one of the standout features available on this Acer laptop.

The Acer TravelMate does not offer a huge selection of ports and connectivity options, but it does provide enough to help you remain productive and efficient. There are two memory slots located on the device and a DVD optical drive. There are no Blu-ray capabilities included on the optical drive, which is a small drawback to this device.

All of your basic networking tools are available on the TravelMate, such as Wi-Fi and Ethernet capabilities, but there is no Bluetooth technology featured. There are three 2.0 USB ports located on the device, along with a VGA port and an HDMI port. The HDMI port is a very welcomed addition as it allows you to connect this computer to a larger HD monitor or an HDTV for enhanced viewing of presentations, multimedia and more.

Acer provides email, telephone and live chat support to communicate with a customer representative. There is also a large knowledgebase available on the Acer website that provides additional assistance and guidance through a wide selection of articles.
